Platform brake tester is a key equipment in the testing of motor vehicle braking performance. The new standard fully incorporates the latest technological achievements from both domestic and foreign sources, numerous design verification tests, and practical application experience. It provides more scientific and stringent requirements for equipment technical specifications, testing methods and inspection rules, further improving testing accuracy and stability and offering a more solid guarantee for road safety.

The new standard specifies the classification and models, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, inspection marking, inspection packaging, inspection transportation and storage of platform brake testers. It is applicable to the design, production, inspection and use of platform automotive brake testers and platform motorcycle brake testers can be used by reference. The newly proposed platform brake tester achieves internationally advanced levels in data acquisition response time, synchronization, vehicle speed monitoring, repeatability requirements for overall vehicle braking efficiency, and test methods.

The release and implementation of this standard will effectively guide and regulate the design and production of platform brake testers, improve the level of motor vehicle brake performance testing, enable the identification of potential hazards in vehicle brake systems during their operating cycle and allow for the rapid detection of vehicles with issues. It will ensure that brake performance test results are scientific, fair and accurate, further safeguarding vehicle operation safety, better supporting and complementing the Technical Specifications for Safety of Power-Driven Vehicles Operating on Roads (GB 7258—2017) and Items and Methods for Safety Technology Inspection of Motor Vehicles (GB 38900—2020) and will have significant benefits for safety of people's lives and property and promoting public safety.
